We will be closed until Wed 12th May

I have been monitoring the weather over the past couple of days which has caused disruption as expected to our ability to open. The main concern is the wind which is again forecast to pick up to gusts of up to 30mph by this afternoon. While we are able to offer shelter from the rain in our marquees we cannot offer the same against the wind which in our high and exposed position and with the sides open to remain compliant with current restrictions really does effect the quality of space we can offer both drinkers and diners.
In view of this and with forecast of moderate wind and rain over the next 7 days I have reached the decision to remain closed until at least next Wednesday the 12th May.
Thank you all for your continued support and i hope to see everyone soon.

We are now open for service in our garden areas.
Harleys coffee shop will be open daily from 11am serving Freshly ground coffee from our new Astoria coffee machine along with speciallity teas, hot, cold and toasted sandwiches, Paninis and of course a fabulous selection of tempting pastrys & cakes supplied freshly baked every day by Sextons Bakery. Take away or sit in the garden areas and enjoy!
Alcohol service will start from 12noon and we will be serving our main menu from 5pm-8.30pm Wednesday-Friday, 12 Noon-8.30pm Saturday and 12 Noon-6pm Sunday.
BOOKINGS........ Please note we are not taking telephone bookings.
Due to the amount of no shows we experienced over the last period of trading combined with the difficulty bookings will pose if the weather is poor, we are not taking bookings over the phone. Bookings will be available when we are once again able to offer indoor space..... We have so far not had to dissapoint anyone who has turned up looking far a table for food and/or drink.

Mark, Sarah, Lindsday & The Team Welcome you to The Wheatsheaf Bar and Grill

{Updated 20th Feb}
Its been quite a 1st year for the team at The Wheatsheaf. New friends, new experiences, new working practices and new ideas to help keep the business going and support the local community.
I'm sure everyone has been touched by sadness over the last year and I'd like to take this opportunity to remember ''Magners'' Steve Smith & ''Ice Cream'' Jon. Both sadly passed during our first year at the pub. Each with their own unique character will be missed but not forgotten as we all hopefully return to some kind of normallity in the coming months.
The Pub remains closed for now, I am hopeful we will see a lifting of restrictions in coming weeks that will perhaps alllow the use of our outside space before we can once again unlock the doors and welcome you all back into the building.
Until then, we are launching our Outdoor Catering arm of the business in the form of our Artisan wood fired pizza trailer which will be operating every week from Thursday - Sunday serving a range of great food for take away or delivery. We are also brining back our Sunday lunch service running alongside the van every Sunday.
For those of you who are not familiar, I took over the Wheatsheaf on the 15th of January with my daughter Sarah who left her job running the kitchen at Glasgow’s TGI Fridays to build a new future together. Things really could not have gone any better, the whole atmosphere in the pub changed and the food side of the business grew quickly to the point where on occasion we had to turn people away on our busiest days. This was all down to the help and support from Friends, Staff, Customers and Customers who have become Friends…. I would like to say a huge and sincere thankyou to you all.

We have a fully refurbished kitchen with a 5 star hygiene rating and we pride ourselves on our food quality. We have worked very hard to get the kitchen where it needs to be. From Homecooked delicious meals to Pub Favourites. A new Chargrill for a mouth-watering Steak or Burger to a Stone bake pizza oven, We have anything you could ask for.

And don’t worry we’ve got Sundays covered. The joints are locally sourced from the Village butcher. With a choice of Beef, Turkey and Chicken cutlet served with Mash, Roast potatoes, plenty of Vegetables, Parsnip Crisps, Cauliflower Cheese, Yorkshire Pudding (obvcourse) and lashings of Gravy.

Garden Area
We have updated the old garden area, doubled the size and dded some funky seats and loads of lights to make your experience one to remember. Why not come down and enjoy a drink with us. The perfect space to sit in the sunshine and sip a cold refreshing beer and don’t worry there’s shading provided with a verity of gazebos and parasols.
Live Sports
At The Wheatsheaf, You’ll find 3 HD SKY televisions to watch all the sports your heart desires. One in the Tap room if your looking for something more cosier and 2 in the main bar area if your looking to have a chat and a laugh. Our Bartenders are hilarious.
Entertainment (pending due to covid-19)
Let your hair down and join us every Friday night for some live music. There is a variety of bands and it has always gone down a storm. A night to remember (or not). Singing and dancing is always guaranteed. Including the staff!!
